Ok, so then why does this page rank #1 in Google when you search for “the coolest guy in Indianapolis”?

Well… because we created a page that follows all of the SEO best practices to optimize for any given keyword search. To be honest, this page was created to prove that we know how to move websites to the top of the search engines.

If I can convince the search engines that I’m the coolest guy in town, I can certainly convince them that you are the best at selling your widget too!

The History Behind the Coolest Guy in Indianapolis

I was born in 1984. I don’t remember much, but I was probably a pretty normal baby.

Fast-forward to Kindergarten thru College, I was definitely the nerdy kid in school. And to be honest, that probably hasn’t changed much after school.

BUT…now I am the #1 result for Coolest Guy in Indianapolis – soo…take that every girl in High School who made it painfully obvious that wasn’t the case.

Also, I was inspired by the coolest guy in Nashville. While brainstorming some creative LinkedIn tag lines, I came across this fellow-Cowboys fan and SEO mastermind. He beat me to the cool guy idea by about 11 years, but hey – still works 🙂

How Quickly Did You Become the “Coolest Guy in Indianapolis”?

As I write this and publish this, today is June 25, 2022. So as of today, I don’t have an answer for you yet. But I will update here as soon as I do (probably a few days – max a couple weeks)

[EDIT] – Well, that didn’t take long. It’s 22 hours later and we made it to #1. How COOL is that?!

Here’s How I Got to #1 for Coolest Guy in Indianapolis

Being in the SEO biz for about 18 years – I kinda know how this all works.

Fortunately, my website already has a pretty strong domain authority – a result of several years of content creation, authority building and backlink building. So I have a little bit of a head start.

Then, I created a page and I made sure to use the keyword, ‘Coolest Guy in Indianapolis’ in my Title Tag, Alt tag of the header image, file name of the header image, H1 text of the first header text, H2 and H3 text of the supporting sections, added a couple of new backlinks pointed specifically to this page, and then dropped in a couple of internal links to this page for good measure. Lastly, I submitted the URL to Search Console for faster indexing.

At the end of the day, SEO isn’t rocket science. It’s all about the execution of the fundamentals.

Absolutely. This is obviously just some silly exercise, but I think it also proves we know exactly what we’re doing.
